Returning Medications to the MedServe Cabinet

Follow these step-by-step instructions to properly return medications using MedServe.

✅ Step 1: Log In

  • Scan your ID badge or enter your primary PIN code to log in.

🛠 Step 2: Select and Access the Medication Compartment

  1. Choose the appropriate medication compartment for the return.
  2. Enter your PIN code and press the Unlock button.

🔄 Step 3: Initiate the Return Process

  1. Select the medication to be returned.
  2. Choose the ‘Return’ option.
  3. Enter the quantity to be returned to the cabinet.
  4. Select ‘Save’.

🧑‍⚕️ Step 4: Add Patient Information

For Non-Preloaded Patients:

  • Enter the necessary patient information, which may include:
    • MRN (Patient ID)
    • Patient Name
    • Date of Birth (DOB)
    • Patient Address

For Preloaded Patients:

  1. Select the “Select Patient” button to access the patient list.

(Note: This button is only available if there are active patient lists. If the button is not visible, confirm that the cabinet is connected to the network and patient data is available.)

  1. Use the search field to find the patient using:
  • Patient Name
  • MRN
  • DOB
  1. Select the correct patient once identified.

🔎 Step 5: Countback Process (If Required)

For medications requiring a countback:

  1. Open the indicated bin for the selected medication.
  2. The cabinet will prompt you to count the on-hand inventory before returning.
  3. Enter the count on the touchpad.
  • If the count is accurate: Proceed with the return.
  • If the count is inaccurate:
    • The system will prompt you to recount or approve the discrepancy.
    • Users will have one final attempt to enter the correct count.
  • If a discrepancy is confirmed: The system will log it.
  • If the count is correct: The system will display a confirmation screen.

🚀 Step 6: Complete the Transaction

  1. Proceed with returning the medication into the bin.
  2. Close the compartment door & select the Lock button when the return is complete to log out.
  3. If necessary, proceed with the next transaction.
